The Manager, Infrastructure & Database Operation is responsible for leading a team of infrastructure and database professionals in a fully virtualized, Azure-native environment. This role ensures the availability, performance, scalability, and security of the company’s cloud-hosted infrastructure and SQL/MongoDB platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Azure, cloud networking, IaaS/PaaS infrastructure, and database operations, and will drive modernization and operational excellence across our development, staging, and production environments.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of infrastructure and database engineers.
- Oversee task prioritization, execution, and team accountability aligned to business priorities.
- Promote a culture of operational rigor, continuous improvement, and documentation.
- Infrastructure & Cloud Operations
- Manage and optimize virtual server infrastructure and network architecture in Azure.
- Oversee cloud resource provisioning, capacity planning, right-sizing, and cost optimization.
- Ensure compliance with security and data protection standards including PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and internal policies.
- Database Platform Management
- Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of SQL Server and MongoDB platforms.
- Partner with application and development teams to optimize data flows and database performance.
- Oversee patching, backups, monitoring, and incident management for database systems.
- Operational Excellence
- Maintain infrastructure and database health through proactive monitoring, logging, and automation.
- Own infrastructure-related components of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Drive root cause analysis and post-mortems for service disruptions and database incidents.
- Collaboration & Strategy
- Collaborate with security, architecture, development, and DevOps teams to support infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Recommend and implement infrastructure and data platform improvements aligned to business and technology goals.
The Ideal Candidate:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience:
- 8+ years in IT Infrastructure/Operations roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
- 4+ years managing environments hosted in Azure (IaaS/PaaS)
- Proven experience managing IT infrastructure in a large-scale enterprise environment (e.g., 1,000+ servers), including high-availability systems, disaster recovery planning, and performance tuning.
- Strong expertise in:
- Azure VM, networking, storage, and identity management
- Microsoft SQL Server (on VM) and MongoDB operations
- Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform)
- Monitoring & observability tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Datadog)
- Experience with ITSM practices and tools (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks: PCI, SOC2 Type 2
- Strong project management, communication, and vendor management skills
- Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills.
- Understand customer needs and translate them to proposals and action.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction.
Preferred Skills:
- Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305)
- Experience with cost governance in Azure
- Exposure to containerization or serverless architecture
- Experience modernizing legacy infrastructure to cloud-native designs

The starting salary range for this full-time position in Irvine, CA is $144700 - $180900 per year. This base pay will take into consideration internal equity, candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge and experience among other factors. Origence maintains a highly competitive compensation program. Under company guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual bonus to provide an incentive to achieve targeted goals. Bonuses are awarded at company’s discretion on an individual basis.
