We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud engineering and site reliability practices, with a passion for mentoring and guiding new SREs. This role will play a critical part in shaping the direction of our SRE practice within the organization.

The successful candidate will have solid hands-on technical experience in Azure Cloud services. Is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud-based applications and infrastructure on the Azure platform. This role involves designing and implementing fault-tolerant architectures, automating operational processes, and proactively monitoring system health to prevent and mitigate disruptions. This role will collaborate closely with Development, Operations, DevOps, and Platform teams to enhance system reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives. Troubleshooting incents and outages will also be required.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Ensure System Reliability: Responsible for implementing tiering of services and SLI/SLO definitions, including improving broader awareness of those concepts within stakeholders and other engineers (developers) of respective goals.
  • Monitor and Alert: Implement monitoring solutions in DataDog to detect and address issues proactively. Setup comprehensive alerting systems to notify relevant teams of potential issues before they impact users.
  • Incident and Change Management: Drive the adoption of a blameless post-incident culture by establishing and organizing the root cause analysis (RCA) process, ensuring that development teams take ownership of incident resolution and use findings as a foundation for continuous improvement.
  • Automate Processes: Development and maintain automation tools to streamline operations. Integrate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure consistent and reliable infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work with cross-functional team to integrate reliability best practices into architectures and deployment. Foster a culture of shared responsibility for system reliability across all teams.
  • Mentoring: Champion the adoption of DevSecOps by not only implementing best practices for availability, but also by empowering development teams and earlier career SREs with the skills and knowledge needed to take full ownership of these practices.

The Ideal Candidate:

Education:

  • B.S degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering required

Experience:

  • Five+ years’ experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer.
  • Expert in Azure Cloud components and services (Storage, Compute Platforms, Identity, Networking, Messaging)
  • Experience with scripting and management languages such as PowerShell, Python, AZ CLI, Terraform
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Working experience with Scaled Agile methodology

Specialized Skills:

  • Problem Prevention\Troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, DataDog
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven problem management and resolution skills
  • Can handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Container based deployments and support
  • Project staff mentoring and supervision experience preferred

The starting salary range for this full-time position in Irvine, CA is $147900 - $184900 per year. This base pay will take into consideration internal equity, candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge and experience among other factors. Origence maintains a highly competitive compensation program. Under company guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual bonus to provide an incentive to achieve targeted goals. Bonuses are awarded at company’s discretion on an individual basis.
